Beloved
Art + Reflection by Sofia Rector
Beloved
by Sofia Rector
You give me a picture that signifies flowers,
with bold lines that don't waver,
uncompromising angles,
controlled geometries,
And I point, saying with you, "Flowers."
But where is the shadow, the depth,
the complication of color
That breathes the scent of peonies?
That bows and bends and rises
under the weight
of glory, and gravity, and grace?
That knows itself in Life Himself,
That knows itself Beloved.
