God Didn’t Create Death

Reflection by Laura Beck

The breaths are few, the words even fewer. Pain in every movement no matter how small. They say, “rest peacefully” but it falls short when you’re just a name on the wall. There’s no antidote to the disease in your body nor the chaos in your mind. No seconds, hours, days are long enough, yet they seem neverending. Your wife, kids and grandkids are within reach but you can’t reach them. Worlds away, they chatter about things that no longer matter. If you could speak, what would you say?

A new path awaits. Your feet are unsure. No map to guide you, you continue anyway. There is a lamp to light your way. It’s light burns bright and will never cease. It has shone on every speck of gravel, each block of concrete, all the blacktop you’ve traveled thus far. The lamp has kept your path straight. Through every bump and crack it hasn’t faltered.

The road you’re traveling isn’t paved in rock or stone like the roads you’ve known. This road, the path to eternal life, is paved with the blood of the lamb. It is His beacon that will get you to your final destination.

God didn’t create death. He created life… eternal life. This isn’t the end for you or for any who truly believe. It is the beginning of an experience words cannot describe. For no one knows the power and glory of the creator of all. No one knows the depths of His grace, mercy and unfathomable love. Until we meet in heaven…
