Emblem

Art + reflection by Sofia Rector

Want to start an argument? Ask folks to define a dandelion.

Is it a weed? A flower? An annoyance? Provision? …?

For me, the dandelion is an emblem; an icon of flourishing in the cracks, the in-betweens, the messy middle found at the vertices of polarized opinion. It roots deeply, reaches for the light, blooms brightly, and gives generatively.

In the messy middle spaces, may we abide, deeply rooted and truly radical in the loving truth of Jesus, who came not to uphold one cultural norm against another, but to inaugurate his kingdom, where He reigns as servant.
