An Invitation to an Unlikely Community

by Christine Chandler Prater

Then Jesus said, “This is my commandment: love each other just as I have loved you.”

John 15:12

Welcome, friend.

If you are curious about Jesus and looking for a community that seeks to know God and love others, you are welcome here.

The Holy Shift is committed to fostering unity by removing the relational barriers that prevent us from encountering Jesus, loving others, and glorifying God. Our “unlikely” community is comprised of folks who look, vote, and believe differently from one another (and that couldn’t make us happier!)

Instead of drawing lines in the sand, we make room at the table for anyone who wants to encounter Jesus and love others.

Our Comm(unity) Vision

Dignity for Humanity: We believe that all people are created in the image of God by the hand of God and that humility is to be lived out both vertically and horizontally (Matthew 20:28; Philippians 2:7).

The Ministry of Mercy: Because scripture teaches that those who show mercy will receive mercy and that “Mercy triumphs over judgment” (Matthew 5:7, James 2:13,) we are committed to cultivating a community of compassion that encourages people as they grow spiritually.

Unity in Community: Scripture tells us that we are to pursue unity and do all we can to live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16-18). Therefore, we strive to avoid divisive language, unhelpful labels, or polarizing rhetoric that disparages anyone else’s dignity.

You’re invited.

We would love for you to join us as we explore The Upside-Down Kingdom of God as the right way forward for the world. As part of our community, you will receive fun bonus content and sneak peeks at our creativity and conversations. You will also have a chance to offer feedback, ask questions, and hear about upcoming community opportunities.
