WELCOME TO THE HOLY SHIFT SHOW
Now all glory to God, who is able, through HIS mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. EPHESIANS 3:20
I have to pinch myself daily. Getting to partner with God in ministry like this is the biggest privilege imaginable and it almost doesn’t feel real.
“I’m not a theology expert.” “I don’t know what I’m doing.” “I’m gonna fail. In public. And everyone will laugh at me.” These were the reasons I offered God to excuse my fear and hesitancy to obey his calling to launch this ministry. In return, he kindly reminded me that none of this is about me anyway (which is as humbling as it is relieving).
Hit {REPEAT} and you know exactly how our conversation went about taking the next step. Except for this time, I said yes a little faster and with the hint of a grin because I AM LEARNING TO HOLD MY DREAMS AND PLANS WITH AN OPEN HAND, Y’ALL.
I’m still not a theology expert (but I’m learning). I still don’t know what I am doing (but I’m willing). I fail (often). In public (and private). And there are plenty of folks out there willing to laugh at me (but I do hope you won’t be one of them). Plus, it’s still not about me, and I love Jesus enough that I am even willing to trust him.đ
So I will keep saying yes to God and inviting y’all to say yes with me. Right now, it looks like extending this ministry into a podcast, which launched this very week!!! Will it be a smashing success? Probably not by anyone’s market metrics. But it’s another opportunity to say yes to God and share what I am learning about him, so it’s good enough for me.
SOME FUN FACTS:
The schedule: I am aiming to release new episodes about every two weeks, but don’t hold me to that. Remember I have a full-time job, am in grad school, and haven’t the faintest idea what I’m doing.
The vibe: I am hoping to mix it up a bit; conversing with actual theology experts some, while also just chatting with normal, everyday folks who are asking good questions and doing cool things. I’ll also splash in some creative reflections and community spotlights along the way.
The name: Because even the name of the ministryâThe Holy Shiftâtends to make folks pause and giggle (blame Jesusâit was his idea and I will have to save that story for another time,) we have jokingly been calling the podcast The Holy Shift Show. And then we never came up with anything better…so it stuck… and now it is…đ¤ˇââď¸
